Dr. Jelani T. Washington is a native of the Bayou, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He did his undergraduate training at The Southern University on the Bluff of the Mississippi River, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The following fall semester, he started his dental journey at Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Immediately following his dental school training, Dr. Washington spent three years in the United States Air Force. He completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Then he served two additional years as a general dentist at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia.  From there, Dr. Washington completed his Endodontic specialty training at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, Baylor College of Dentistry, where he earned his Certificate in Endodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry. Within the following six months, he challenged and completed the Endodontic Board Certification process. Now, he is board-certified through the American Board of Endodontics. He lived in the Dallas Metroplex for a year working as an Endodontist and moved to Conyers, GA to open East Atlanta Endodontics & Microsurgery PC. He has practiced dentistry for over 20 years but has been limited to the specialty of Endodontics for the past 14 years. Dr. Washington met his beautiful wife, Keysra, at Meharry Medical College. They have been married for nearly 20 years. With three kids, Jelani Jr, Kacey, and Jacob, home life is a bit busy, but they enjoy every minute of it. Dr. Washington enjoys working out and sports but is fanatical about supporting his wife and kids in their endeavors. From his wife’s fitness journey to his kids' academics, baseball, softball, and piano journeys, he enjoys being their number one supporter.
